New Japan went to war with ZERO1-MAX at Z1's big seventh anniversary show last night, and on enemy soil took both the series and main event, but not before suffering some big losses. New Japan's young men won their matches, Hirasawa & Naito besting Sai & Takanishi in the second series match when Naito unveiled a Stardust press to finish off Takanishi. Sai, Yamamoto's old rival, brawled with Hirasawa afterwards, appearing to set up a singles match shortly. Takao Omori won the first battle of Wild Child, pinning former IWGP Tag Team Title co-holder, Manabu Nakanishi, in a close match, and right after, Masato Tanaka & Ikuto Hidaka beat Kanemoto & Taguchi, Tanaka pinning Taguchi. This is another situation that doesn't appear settled, with brawling post-match, and Kanemoto promising to continue his fight with ZERO1-MAX. Unified and undisputed IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura, sealed the series win with a main event victory over his ZERO1-MAX equivalent, Kohei Sato. The two were originally supposed to fight on the 1/4/06 Tokyo Dome super-show, but circumstances changed it. The two showed the "strong" professional wrestling, with hard strikes, suplexes, and submissions, and Nakamura came out the victory with his cross armbreaker. Nakamura grasped the microphone after the match and announced that he would return the second generation IWGP Heavyweight Title belt to ZERO-ONE founder, Shinya Hashimoto. A large "Hashimoto" call rang out and Nakamura handed the title to Hashimoto's son. Chono and Otani then got in the ring, Chono congratulating his fellow New Japan trueborn on seven years of the "ZERO-ONE" franchise. Chono told Otani that ZERO1-MAX has to work hard to inherit the soul of Hashimoto truly, and slapped him in the face for support.

- Masato Tanaka & Ikuto Hidaka beat Koji Kanemoto & Ryusuke Taguchi (20:26) when Tanaka used the Sliding D on Taguchi.
- "Destructive King" Shinya Hashimoto Memorial Match: Shinsuke Nakamura beat Kohei Sato (17:08) with a cross armbreaker.
