Citation : Hiroshi Tanahashi may still be the IWGP Heavyweight Champion but is a “one-eyed dragon” after TAJIRI’s mist attack that has temporarily messed up one of his eyes. Tanahashi spoke with the media today and praised Sugiura, saying he showed the depth of Pro Wrestling NOAH and was a worthy challenger. He warned wrestlers in Sugiura’s block in the G1 to be very wary of him, saying he is a dangerous opponent. Regarding TAJIRI, Tanahashi said he respected the former ECW and WWE superstar a lot but those feelings have been betrayed and now he is simply angry. President Sugabayashi is apparently not showing the will to put TAJIRI in the G1, and while Tanahashi would like him in it - so they can fight each other - he is leaving it to the company. New Japan also announced today that Tanahashi’s V2 defense will be held at Kobe World Hall on September 27th, about a month after the G1 Climax. This is close to a scheduled Sumo Hall show in October, so it will be interesting to see how things are planned out.
